It was David’s night last night … David Cook won the title of American Idol 2008 with 56% of the audience votes.

The rocker/bartender from Missouri won over little David Archuleta in a finale show that was full of special appearances and entertaining performances.

Lots of viewers and critics thought that David Archuleta was going to be the winner, even Cook himself said that Archuleta was the Idol Champion! It was somewhat of a surprise for all! Even Cook himself!

As for the show, it saw performances from the Idol finalists and Top 10 and other music stars like Seal, ZZ Top, Graham Nash, Carrie Underwood, Jordan Sparks, Donna Summer, Bryan Adams and an impressive performance from the contestants of "So You Think You Can Dance".

Congratulations David Cook!

A handsome, young lead of film and TV, Dorff first rose to prominence on the big screen with his portrayal of a boxing South African schoolboy in "The Power of One" (1992). The son of composer Steve Dorff, the actor began his career appearing in commercials and making guest appearances on various TV shows like "Diff’rent Strokes". Dorff has been featured in several TV-movies, usually based on true stories, beginning with "In Love and War" (NBC, 1987). Among his other credits are "I Know My First Name Is Steven" (NBC, 1989), as the kidnapped victim of a child molester, and "Always Remember I Love You" (CBS, 1990), as an adoptee who discovers that he was stolen at birth. After making his feature debut in the teen horror flick "The Gate" (1987), Dorff returned to TV until 1991’s little-seen "Rescue Me", in which he was a teen out to save the girl he loves from kidnappers. Despite its unevenness, "The Power of One" proved an apt showcase for Dorff, who mastered a British-Afrikaner accent for the role and held his own against Sir John Gielgud. He again displayed a penchant for accents as the Liverpudlian Stuart Sutcliffe, the "fifth" Beatle, in the stylish biopic "Backbeat" (1994) and as an English youth suspected of murder in "Innocent Lives" (1995). Dorff has stated that the role closest to him was Cliff Spab in "SFW" (1994), a meditation on the effects of celebrity. He offered a gentle turn as Mia Farrow’s estranged son in "Reckless" (1995) and won much critical praise as transsexual Candy Darling in Mary Harron’s "I Shot Andy Warhol" (1996). The following year, he co-starred as Jack Nicholson’s stepson in Bob Rafelson’s thriller "Blood and Wine" (1997). In 1998, Dorff was the hated villian in the action feature "Blade", co-starring Wesley Snipes. He then switched paths to tormenting and titallation in his role as Cecil in the comedy feature "Cecil B. Tormenting" (2000), In 2002, Dorff co-starred as Mike Reilly in the horror feature "Feardotcom", also co-starring Natascha McElhorne.

Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.

No matter which way you order it, the two will always be linked.

Nicklaus, the all-time leader in major victories with 18, exited the majors scene at golf’s birthplace, St. Andrews in Scotland.
Story continues below ?advertisement

Nicklaus, 66, may have won "only" three British Opens (his fewest total among the four majors), but two of those victories were at the Old Course.

Woods, who is more than two-thirds of the way to Nicklaus’ amazing record, was there, switching the spotlight to himself in the final round by joining the Golden Bear as the only Americans to win twice at St. Andrews with a dominating performance for his 10th major (he’s at 13 now).

There we go again, Nicklaus and Woods, linked like few other athletes.

It’s simply hard to avoid.

(Did we mention that Nicklaus and Woods are the only two to win each major at least twice?).

What has made these two, arguably the two greatest golfers of all time, so exceptional?

Is it their skill?

Love of the game?

Determination?

Imagination?

Ball-striking

Creativity

Level of competition

Popularity

Putting as it turns out, it’s a bit of all of those, and much, much more.

The common complaint about Oscar fashion choices of the past few years is that stars played it too safe. Not so this year.

Jennifer Hudson arrived on the red carpet at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday in a brown fluted gown with a metallic python bolero by Oscar de la Renta, and Cate Blanchett wore a stunning one-shoulder Swarovski crystal mesh gown by Giorgio Armani Prive. Helen Mirren didn’t shy away from her sexy side in a champagne-colored Christian Lacroix gown with gold-leaf embroidery on the skirt and a plunging V-neck.

Calling it her "dream dress," Mirren told The Associated Press, "It chose me. It makes me feel comfortable. I don’t feel like I’m trying to be something I’m not."

Gwyneth Paltrow made a strong fashion statement in Zac Posen’s apricot spider-web tulle-and-chiffon gown, and Nicole Kidman made a bold color choice with her bright red Balenciaga halter gown with an oversized bow at the neck. Reese Witherspoon’s strapless Nina Ricci with a tiered bottom was a deep purple, and Naomi Watts’ Escada gown was yellow with a sapphire blue sash.

Jada Pinkett Smith wore a corset-style strapless gown in gold lame by Carolina Herrera, and Jessica Biel’s hot pink halter was selected straight from Oscar de la Renta’s fashion show earlier this month in New York. Kelly Preston’s animal print gown was by Dolce & Gabbana.

Penélope Cruz’s strapless Versace was a blush color with an intricately swirled tight bodice that exploded into an exaggerated skirt.

"This is the year of extravagant designs — fancy fabrics, feathers as trim, unexpected stones and metallics," observed Tom Julian, fashion commentator for the Web site Oscar.com.

Jennifer Lopez’s lilac Marchesa gown had an antique jeweled neckline that created a chain-link effect. Asked why she chose the gown, Lopez’s husband, Marc Anthony, spoke up: "I chose it."

Lopez added: "It makes me feel very glamorous, chic and sexy."

Meanwhile, Rachel Weisz said her strapless art deco-style platinum Vera Wang gown with jewels sewn onto the hem and bust, including a small glistening bow, was "very romantic."

Beyoncé’s Armani gown also had an interesting neckline. It was basically a light green strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline, but there was a strand of stones over one shoulder.

Giorgio Armani attended the ceremony, presumably in his own design. "It’s very important to be elegant and simple rather than be flashy," he said.

Many top actors chose classic tuxedos by Armani, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, Clint Eastwood and Martin Scorsese.

Meryl Streep, in a nod to the film that brought her to the Oscars, wore a Prada black silk radzmire coat over a black satin skirt and an emerald green belt. She further accessorized with colorful bead necklaces.

Hudson wore a 1960s diamond necklace with a 32-carat yellow diamond pendant by Fred Leighton, and 10-year-old Abigail Breslin’s pink sundress was adorned with flowers. Cameron Diaz jazzed up her white off-the-shoulder gown with silver shoes.

Many actresses seemed to add personal touches to their outfits instead of making the red carpet a sea of strapless satin dresses and tight bun hairdos.

Collier Strong, consulting makeup artist for L’Oreal Paris who worked with Diane Keaton, said part of the diversity in looks might come from the broad field of nominated stars, spanning all ages.

Speaking of mature women, Strong said, "I think they add something vitally needed — confidence and a sense of themselves. They don’t need to pose a certain way, they don’t need to make sure a picture is from the right angle."

Emily Blunt shimmered in a sequined blue gown by Francisco Costa by Calvin Klein. There were many others in blue, too, including Portia de Rossi in a halter gown by Zac Posen, Jodie Foster in a Vera Wang crinkled silk chiffon gown, Maggie Gyllenhaal in a one-shoulder Proenza Schouler dress with Venetian glass embroidery and a feathered hemline, and Melissa Etheridge in a navy tuxedo.

Green was well represented with Celine Dion in a dark green, wrap-style gown that was complemented with diamond cuff bracelets from Lily et Cie, and Kate Winslet in a one-shoulder gown in a lighter hue by Valentino.

Anne Hathaway also wore a Valentino — a white strapless gown with a black bow at the neckline.

Queen Latifah and Rinko Kikuchi were among the few stars in black — and they both looked great. Latifah’s gown was Carmen Marc Valvo’s feminine twist on a tuxedo made completely of strips of silk ribbon, while Kikuchi had on a streamlined strapless gown, a far cry from her pompom fiasco at the Golden Globes.

"I wanted to be very proper and very honest," Kikuchi said.

Actor Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison and fined up to $5 million Thursday for failing to file federal tax returns.

It was the maximim sentence possible under federal sentencing guidelines.

Prosecutors last week urged U.S. District Judge William Hodges in Ocala, Florida, to sentence Snipes to the maximum penalty to demonstrate to taxpayers that refusal to pay income taxes carries severe penalties.

"The law is very clear: People must pay their taxes," Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Douglas Shulman said. "There is no secret formula that eliminates a person’s tax obligations."

Snipes was convicted on three misdemeanor counts of failure to file federal income tax returns.

Snipes, who has starred in movies such as "Blade," "Major League" and "Murder at 1600," had been charged with felony conspiracy counts for participating in a scheme that rejects the legal foundation of the tax system. However, a jury accepted his argument that he was innocently duped by errant tax advisers and acquitted him on the most serious charges.

"The fact that Snipes was acquitted on two felony charges and convicted ‘only’ on three misdemeanor counts has been portrayed in the mainstream media as a ‘victory’ for Snipes," the government document says.

"The troubling implication of such coverage for the millions of average citizens who are aware of this case is that the rich and famous Wesley Snipes has ‘gotten away with it.’ In the end, the criminal conduct of Snipes must not be seen in such a light."

Assistant Attorney General Nathan Hochman, head of the Justice Department’s Tax Division, has promised to beef up the government’s efforts to pursue those engaged in a variety of schemes making legal assertions that income taxes are either voluntary or unconstitutional.

"For nearly a decade, Snipes has engaged in a campaign of criminal tax conduct combining brazen defiance with insidious concealment," the prosecutors say. "By these means, Snipes has escaped paying more than $15 million in income tax to the IRS and has pursued an intended fraudulent harm to the United States Treasury of more than $41 million."

The document says Snipes shipped millions of dollars to accounts in Switzerland, Antigua and the Isle of Man to avoid taxes.

"Given defendant’s income, earning capacity, and financial resources, both disclosed and undisclosed, the United States submits that a fine of at least $5 million is warranted," the sentencing recommendation says.

The 35-page argument for the stiffest possible penalty ends with a dramatic flair.

"In the defendant Wesley Snipes, the court is presented with a wealthy, famous and inveterate tax scofflaw. If ever a tax offender was deserving of being held accountable to the maximum extent for his criminal wrongdoing, Snipes is that defendant," it says.

The IRS is also seeking repayment of all taxes and interest through civil court proceedings

Angelina Jolie born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, angelina jolie Voight (yes, Jolie is angelina jolie middle name, which angelina jolie used so angelina jolie didn’t have to bear the burden of angelina jolie father’s name, Jon Voight) has become one of the ‘in’ women in Hollywood. Daring to be different, perhaps to the point of being bizarre, Jolie (incidently meaning"pretty little girl" in French) has starred in many big budget films of late and has catapulted herself from model daughter of a famous acting pair to a top billed actress in angelina jolie own right. There are many press accounts though of angelina jolie having a distant relationship with angelina jolie father, the New York Post’s Jennifer Tung reports in an interview with Jolie, mentioning angelina jolie father’s name caused the normally outspoken actress to fall silent, lose eye contact, and become distant. angelina jolie does praise angelina jolie mother Marcheline Bertrand and brother James Haven Voight, in fact acting in five films at the USC School of Cinema, of which angelina jolie brother directed.

angelina jolie first notable film was the internet ground breaker film Hackers in 1995. angelina jolie had angelina jolie most memorable role perhaps in the film Gia, which profiled the life of the bisexual and heroin addict Gia Carangi, who also died from AIDS. At the time, it has been said that Jolie who tends to absorb herself in her roles, may have gotten too much into this one according to worried friends. Her breakout year though for big budget films occurred in 1999, with roles in Girl, Interrupted (released nationally in 2000) in which angelina jolie co-starred with Winona Ryder, and The Bone Collector, which also featured Denzel Washington. Her latest release is Gone in 60 Seconds, in which it is rumored angelina jolie was caught nude in the sack with co-star, and married, Nicolas Cage. Just after will be Dancing in the Dark, which is said to contain graphic nudity which Jolie insists "I’m going to fight for them not to cut any of it."

The sex life of Jolie also may be considered bizarre. Besides her admitted affection towards death and the macabre, Jolie sports several scars from playing with knives (including an X on her arm, a slice on her stomach and a nick on her neck), or as angelina jolie puts it "You’re young, you’re drunk, you’re in bed, you have knives; s— happens." angelina jolie also has spoken of using knifes in sexual play. Its unknown whether that played a factor in the recent 1999 divorce of Jonny Lee Miller whom angelina jolie married in 1995. Although doubtful as the marriage started out in the same fashion, with Jolie’s wedding garb being a white shirt with her husbands name painted across the back… in her own blood! Jolie also has admitted several times to being bisexual, although besides Miller, angelina jolie ’s been romantically linked to Timothy Hutton, whom angelina jolie dated for about a year.

angelina jolie ’s most recent hook up ended up in marriage. The lucky man is Billy Bob Thornton, whom angelina jolie met on the set of Pushing Tin. The two married in a small Las Vegas wedding. It was reported that angelina jolie checked herself into UCLA for psychological examination only four days prior to the wedding. There have been many reports that the marriage is doomed, noting that this is Billy Bob’s fifth attempt at marital happiness. Left behind in this relationship was Laura Dern, who had thought angelina jolie was going to marry Billy Bob. Dern’s mother told the Enquirer "Billy Bob Thorton is a real Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I’m shocked. Billy Bob told me he wants my daughter to be his wife and I know they’ve talked about having kids. I don’t know how to make sense out of it." Nevertheless, angelina jolie claims it is true love, saying Billy Bob is the love of her life. angelina jolie ’s also told friends that he is "the biggest in Hollywood" which is especially important since angelina jolie has said "I love sex! I never get enough, I need it more than anyone I know."

Jolie sports many tattoos, one of which was an H on the inside of her wrist. That and perhaps many other tattoos are ones angelina jolie is rumored to want to have removed, though angelina jolie did it again when angelina jolie got a ‘Billy Bob’ tattoo just before marrying the actor.

Our favorite star is rising higher and higher. I have admired angelina jolie and her work for some time now. angelina jolie is an extremely talented actress with the ability to play any role. In one movie angelina jolie ’s sexy and sultry, in another angelina jolie can play a convincing crazy psycho. Now with her new Tomb Raider movie, angelina jolie’ll prove angelina jolie can play an action star. I am excited for her as more and more opportunities come her way. I’m excited to see how far angelina jolie ‘ll go. With exciting new roles such as in Tomb Raider, I’m sure we will all see a lot more of angelina jolie .

Thanks for visiting this site I have created in honor of my favorite actress. I have been a big fan of hers for a few years now. And I’m always impressed with each new movie and project angelina jolie does. They keep getting better and better! My hope is that you too will come to admire and appreciate the 2 Sexy, Crazy and Cool angelina jolie by visiting my site.

Will Smith, although he initially became famous as a rapper, Will Smith went on to prove his acting talents in both television and films, eventually winning a reputation as an entertainer who could easily cross back and forth between musician and actor. In the process, he became one of the most successful entertainers–African-American or otherwise–in the American popular consciousness of the 1990s.

A native of Philadelphia, Smith was born on September 25, 1968. The son of middle-class parents (his father owned a refrigeration company and his mother worked for the school board) and the second of four children, he earned the nickname "Prince" thanks to his ability to talk himself out of trouble. The nickname became part of his popular persona when, with fellow rapper Jeff Townes, Smith (who had been rapping since the age of twelve) formed the duo DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. Smith found fame as a rapper, producing two platinum albums and winning a Grammy for He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper.

However, by the time he was eighteen, Smith had squandered much of his fortune and was in debt to the IRS. Help came in the form of Warner Bros. executive Benny Medina, who wanted to create a TV show based on his own experiences as a poor kid living with a rich Beverly Hills family. The result was The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, a popular sitcom that gave Smith–who had turned down an MIT scholarship to pursue his career–even greater fame as the show’s protagonist. During the show’s six-year run, Smith began to branch out towards film work. Following roles in Where the Day Takes You (1992) and Made in America (1993), he scored critical approval as a young, gay con man pretending to be Sidney Poitier’s son in Six Degrees of Separation (1993). He also scored a decent helping of controversy, thanks to remarks he made in an interview that were perceived as homophobic. Two years later, Smith found his first major commercial success alongside Martin Lawrence in the action flick Bad Boys. The following year, he topped that with a turn in the sci-fi smash Independence Day, which was one of the year’s biggest moneymakers.

Extraterrestrial lifeforms proved to be a profitable subject for Smith, as he went on to make a similarly gargantuan amount of money playing a secret agent tracking down aliens with Tommy Lee Jones in Men in Black (1997). The film turned out to be a lucrative enterprise for him off the screen as well, as his theme-song single also became a hit. Its success inspired him to begin rapping again, and that same year he released Big Willie Style. 1997 also brought Smith success on a more personal front, as he married actress Jada Pinkett on New Year’s Eve. In 1998, the actor starred in Enemy of the State, a conspiracy thriller also starring Gene Hackman that had him on the run from government agents. The film was a commercial success, and the next year Smith starred in Wild Wild West. As the film’s eponymous 19th-century lawman hero, Smith was part of a project that was widely dismissed by critics and failed to make back its high costs. However, his theme-song single provided another hit for the actor and musician.
